Anthony Hits the Road

Anthony took his first voyage outside the "friendly" confines of Miami Sunday, driving across the state to visit (i.e. raid the closets of) Ben, Amanda and Harper in Naples.

The Josephsen family headed home with a carful from 4-and-a-half-month-old Harper and his mom and dad -- clothes, shoes, diapers and, the cream of the crop, a bouncy chair (above photo)that Anthony has welcomed as both bed and play area. Anthony loves having an older friend! Harper even taught Anthony a trick of the baby trade -- if he kicks at the bouncy chair, he can make the animals dance without mom's or dad's help. It's never too early to be a self-starter.

The trip to Naples was a lot of fun, giving Anthony a change of scenery and his parents a very welcome chance to talk to adults other than each other (no offense, Brandon). Anthony did great on the two-hour car ride, sleeping on the way over and quietly enjoying the view on the way home -- meaning dad never had to make good on threats to feed the little guy to the inhabitants of the aptly-nicknamed "Alligator Alley" that connects the east and west coasts of South Florida.
Anthony keeps getting more fun everyday. He interacts with us more all the time, which is cool, and can now be entertained with activities other than breakfast, lunch, dinner (and the four or five other meals he enjoys on a daily basis) and naptime. Here is is playing with one of his toys:

Anthony just keeps getting cuter and more fun! It is good to know that he is a good traveler and likes to go visiting. I think he will have a lot of fun bouncing in his chair and grabbing for those animals! It seems like he is discovering a new way to play everyday. Can't wait to play with him in September!

Well, it's sure a good thing Anthony likes traveling and was such a good boy. Hate to think of him left in Alligator Alley. OOh, perish the thought. You are lucky he likes the ride. I had one who hated riding and it was miserable. In a little Volkswagon Beetle no less. Not good. The rest were all sleepers in the car. In fact if they needed to be put to sleep from fighting a nap, we would take a little tour around town once in a while. Actually, that was Suzi we did that with. Only a few times really. Anthony is getting so big. Little sweetheart. Love you all. Shirley

I'm glad Anthony has caught the travel bug - before you know it he'll be wanting to go on a safari in Africa or whitewater rafting in Nepal with his Aunt Kerry!

I sent a message to you earlier today but somehow is not on here now. It went on there at the time. Was surprised now not to see it there. Good thing Anthony likes the traveling and was so good. Horrible to think that he could have been dropped off in Alligator Alley. Perish the thought. Not fun to have a baby who hates to ride. Scott was awful. In a Volkswagen Beetle no less. The rest of the kids were sleepers when in the car. Suzi was the one we took little tours around town for when she couldn't get settled for a nap. Only a few times. Anthony is sure growing so big. What a sweetheart. Love to you all. Shirley
