Although one would think Anthony had little to smile about in light of yesterday's news from the wide world of sports, I finally managed to capture his newest skill on camera.
This isn't one of his ear-to-ear grins, but it's the best I could do. I'm convinced it's easier to get photographic evidence of the Loch Ness Monster or Yeti than it is to get proof of our baby smiling ... as soon as either the video or regular camera comes out, Anthony tends to at worst get mad and at best get a little confused.
Like I said, smiling is Anthony's newest skill, and Brandon and I are constantly amazed at how idiotic we'll act in order to entice him to perform. Meanwhile, without requiring embarrassing encouragement from mom and dad, he's also started working on two more new tricks:
--Rolling from his back to either side, although he can't quite complete the transition to his stomach. He sometimes gets irate after a couple of minutes of trying, and when some motherly intervention helps him get to his tummy, he promptly quiets down and often falls asleep.
-- Spitting up now and again. After I'd stashed the burp clothes in the back of the closet, smugly thinking that my 7-week-old baby had yet to spit up despite enthusiastic burping, little Anthony recently began to occasionally provide a little liquid evidence that my back-slapping efforts are working. I'm cool with it, though, as I think it makes him more comfortable in general.
You can thank me later for posting a video of the smiling rather than the spitting up.

Oh, our hearts are just melting with the sight of that sweet smile! Grandpa and I have played this one over and over! Anthony, you are a happy little boy and we love you so much. We will do all sorts of silly things to make you smile when we come to visit!
He loves his mama! The attempts at rolling over are impressive... Harper will be starting at Yale in the fall.
Love,
Amanda
Yeah, that's a great smile! I can't wait to "meet" Anthony via videophone on Sunday!
