Does this come in Jet?

Moms try to protect their children from tragedy, adversity, hurt feelings and just about anything else that can bring about unhappiness. In Anthony's nearly 8 weeks of life, I think I've done a pretty good job of this -- save for those early days when I had no earthly idea what he was crying about, or some more recent moments resulting from my realization that it wouldn't be the end of the world if I let him cry for 90 seconds so I could condition my hair.

But we can't protect our little ones from everything, and today Anthony has encountered his first real tragedy.

Yes, it has become official, thanks to a trade with the New York Jets, that my child will grow up in a world in which Brett Favre is not the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback. He will never see Brett throw a touchdown pass. He will never cheer as Brett does the Lambeau Leap. He will never (ever so briefly) curse Brett's name after an ill-timed interception.
Welcome to the cold, hard world, Anthony James. Join me in mourning his innocence lost.

But on the bright side, by the time Anthony is old enough to understand speech he will never hear the words "President Bush" spoken in any other context than past-tense. The future is looking brighter already! ;-)

I leave him home with you for 10 hours while I work to put food on the table and you corrupt the poor child with that ridiculous bib!!!??? That bib represents a team that offered a hall of fame QB $20 million to stay retired because the preseason declaration of Aaron Rodgers and his 3 quarters of playing experience and 3 trips to the disabled list was somehow sacrosanct! Kerry's right. You might as well put a "I heart W" bib on him.

"When you're a jet, you're a jet all the way..." I guess the same cannot be said of Packers.

Yikes, I think I detect some bitterness coming from Brandon's corner! Just wait, Brandon, soon Anthony will grow into some of his Rams outfits. In the meantime, allow Kelly and the many other Packer fans their day of mourning! These things take time to deal with....

Full disclosure:
Brandon goes to work for 10 hours a day because he gets every Monday off.
Yesterday, he was sent home at 2 due to a air conditioner breakdown.
He is off for every imaginable holiday. I'm talking Columbus day here, people.
Let's leave the sympathy where it belongs...with Packer fans worldwide.

He could always become a Jets fan. So, is it the team you are loyal to or the MAN? You may just have to change. Hey, change is good. I take it you are a house divided where pro teams are concerned. You know, Anthony may very well pick his own team in time quite different from Mom's and Dad's. It happens. If it does, try not to feel betrayed. Or we'll just wait and see who is best at brainwashing. LOL! Love you all. Shirley
