As dad Brandon went back to work this week, Anthony got down to serious business as well.
He started today (after a healthy breakfast or two, of course) by doing some neck exercises with grandma (photo at left). Although full head control is still months away -- we won't put undue pressure on the little guy -- Anthony did a good job of at least lifting his little head to take a look at his surroundings. Look at that look of concentration and effort on his face!
After that, Anthony decided he was feeling adventurous enough to try out some new surroundings (other than laps). He slid happily into his Pack N Play (photo below), which is where mom is hoping he'll wile away a few hours each day once she's truly on her own with the little guy -- luckily for Anthony, despite Dad's return to the working world, the Josephsen household is still on a healthy three-to-one adult-to-baby ratio, and will be for some time.
After getting off to a gung-ho physical start to the day and discovering new territory, Anthony decided it was time to get cerebral, and took on his first book reading. For this big event he chose Josephine Page's classic coming-of-age tale, "Peekaboo Kitty." It's the epic story of a blue kitty who first sees Anthony's eyes, then his nose, then his mouth, then ALL of Anthony.
Actually, it's really cute, as it comes with a blue kitty hand puppet that the reader can use to play Peekaboo with Anthony. His little eyes really followed the action (see photo below), and we think pretty soon he will be able to move on to Ms. Page's followup novel, "Bye-Bye Bear."

That's cool that Anthony is already enjoying the wonders of reading! I can't wait to see his eyes light up when I read him "The Hobbit"! ;-D He's got a lot of cute facial expressions in those pictures - I can't wait to see him in person!
Love, Aunt Kerry
