The Tummy Time Champion of the World

Modern-day parents are instructed to give their infants regular "tummy time," basically meaning putting the baby on his belly and letting him try to lift his head and look around. It's supposed to strengthen the neck muscles and help the infant move toward an end to floppiness and into those days when he'll be able to support his head on his own.

This is quickly becoming a favorite part of the day for both me and Anthony! He likes showing off just how strong his neck muscles are, and I like watching him explore his surroundings. The video shows one of Anthony's recent tummy time experiences -- I like to think he's doing pretty good for being just over a month old, but of course I have nothing to compare this to, and I'm clearly more than a little biased!

Of course, my true favorite tummy times are the ones where Anthony is laying on me, and he lifts his head to look at my face (at least that's what I tell myself he's doing!). However, my limited cinematography skills make this difficult to capture, so I'll just have to make due with displaying some floor-based tummy time.

We have watched the video repeatedly and agree that Anthony is Tummy Time champion!! You can just tell how eager he is to learn about his world, it is fascinating to watch. And I am sure when he looks at you, Kelly, he is thinking what a wonderful mommy he has!

Glad to see a video again. Can get more of the personality that way. Anthony will be doing real push ups in no time. I think he is trying already. You see those toes digging in? What a sweetheart. Yay! I see you are using the blanket. Soft to lay on. Kelly, the announcement is so clever. I have it sitting here on my computer desk so I can enjoy it a lot. Love you all. Shirley
