Anthony is one month old today!

WOW!! A few weeks ago, I thought this day would never come. Now, when I think back, the past month has flown by. Anthony officially hit his one month birthday today, and we like to think he's come a long way, baby.

This photo is just the start of our efforts to track the little guy's growth. Each month Anthony will (hopefully) oblige us by posing next to his Pooh Bear -- a gift from Aunt Shirley, thank you!! -- so we have a way to see how much bigger he's getting in comparison. And as you can see, it's also the start of an aggressive brainwashing campaign aimed at ensuring Anthony grows up right in terms of sports loyalty. Since dad is off to work this morning, leaving mom in charge of photo and blog duties, Anthony will be starting his life as a Packers fan. I like to think he looks mighty happy about that, but maybe that's only because he just ate...

Anyway, Anthony has learned a lot in his first month of life:

For one thing, he knows how he likes to sleep -- on his stomach, unfortunately for us, as no parent in 2008 feels comfortable putting their infant to bed any way but on his or her back. Had Anthony been born 30 years ago, when parents were told ONLY to put babies to bed on their tummies, Brandon and I would probably get more sleep than we did before junior came along! See how peaceful he looks in the picture to the right:

Meanwhile, Anthony is also WAY ahead of the curve by learning another important lesson -- to share! Look at how he happily shares one of his favorite resting places, his dad's lap, with his older "brother" Javier. Don't worry, I'm not completely delusional, I fully expect little Anthony to forget how to share by the time he hits his "terrible twos."

Along with these important skills, we think Anthony is thisclose to gracing us with that much-anticipated first smile. I swear he grinned a little after I fed him this morning! He is also a champ at holding up his little head and looking around, and even appears to have ideas about turning over onto his side. I'll be watching him closely so I don't miss these big moments!

In other news, tomorrow is Anthony's one month "well baby" checkup with the pediatrician. Brandon, Grandma Char and I are guessing he'll be over nine pounds when the doctor weighs him. I'm going on the record for 9 lbs, 2 ounces. We'll see tomorrow!

First, baby Anthony is adorable!

Second, now that we're in the midwest, I guess we should expect the crazy team loyalty that seems to come with living in or being from this region. While we were out yesterday, we saw at least 100 Cubs t-shirts (I'm really not exaggerating). And there's a house on our block with a Packer's helmet the size of a small car. If I'd had my camera, I would have taken a picture for you . . .

OMG, Pooh is almost bigger than Anthony! He has shorter legs though. Well, that will be a good way to watch Anthony grow. First time I have ever seen Pooh sporting team wear of any kind. Well, why not. What a cutie pie our Anthony is. (Yes, I meant our.) We wondered if he had Brandon's red mark. He does. Suzi had it too only it was more on the eye. It is a Josephsen thing. Love you all. Shirley

Wow! A month already? We were in the same boat with Tessa who always prefers to sleep on her tummy. Once we got over the initial worries, we slept a lot better. She's been sleeping on her tummy since week two actually.

On a side note, I think the Packer's jersey is entirely appropriate. Somehow I've always imagined the Packers and Pooh going well together.

"Happy One Month" to Anthony James!!! His one month picture with Winnie the Pooh sporting a Green Bay Packers bib is so cute!
Of course, Anthony is really a cute, cuddly, precious baby for those of you who haven't seen him in person. After just spending 7 wonderful days with him I am really missing him already!!!

Oh, by the way--- my guess is 9 lbs. 4oz.

Much love,
Grandma Char

So how does Anthony feel about (oh, Brett) Favre coming back to be the quarterback for... wait for it.... the Vikings? Maybe that will bring his first real smile, I'm sure you had already purchased his Aaron Rodgers jersey. Come to think of it, you can use it to wipe his bottom.
He's looking great. Keep it up!

Grandpa Harry is guessing 8 lb 15 oz...but I am seeing those chubby thighs and cheeks (facial) and going for 9 lb 7 oz. Anthony does look so content sleeping on his tummy! On the Favre note...I thought when I saw his resignation press conference, he was just so sad, and that there was more to the story. Now Brett has talked to Greta Van Sustern (sp?) and it appears the Packers did not want him! That would explain the sadness.

Give Anthony a hug from Grandma and Grandpa Dianne and Harry, we can't wait to see him in September!
