Over one week old!

Anthony had some busy days leading up to his big one-week birthday! On Thursday, he got to meet mom and dad's friend Jen, who is a pro at this stuff -- she's raising two boys of her own! Anthony had a blast getting to know Jen, and then later in the day got a wonderful surprise in the mail -- this beautiful blanket with his name and birthdate from Aunt Amanda and Uncle Ben.

Anthony spent the day sporting his snazzy "All American Baby" T-shirt, a gift from mom's boss, but had trouble finding a pair of pants that fit. He doesn't want to be on the wrong side of any saggy pants legislation, afterall. He was going to save the T-shirt for the Fourth of July, but he just couldn't wait -- besides, he WAS born on flag day, so he's just patriotic at heart.

Another interesting note about Anthony's birthday -- Jen tells us June 13, the day Kelly went into Labor, is the Feast of Saint Anthony day in the Catholic Church. We had no idea, but it kind of seems like a good sign that his name has special meaning. Jen says Saint Anthony is the saint you pray to when you're looking for something you lost...so I guess I'll think of my little boy a lot, since I'm not exactly known for my ability to keep track of things.

While Anthony had a blast Thursday, things weren't going so smoothly for mom and dad...early in the morning, dad spent an hour in the kitchen putting together a gourmet dinner of slow-cooked ribs. He minced garlic, chopped onions, measured ketchup and seasonings and put it all in the crockpot to simmer its way to tender perfection. Unfortunately, the whole simmering thing doesn't work so well if one doesn't plug in the crockpot. With dashed hopes, mom and dad threw the ribs in the garbage and set the oven for (yet another) frozen pizza. But to add insult to injury, when dad got up 10 minutes later to put the pizza in the preheated oven, he realized he'd only turned on one of the two dials needed to get things heating. Dinner was eventually served, and don't worry, at least we ARE managing to feed our child.

Anthony had another big day Saturday, his one-week birthday. Ben and Amanda, and their 3-month-old son, Harper, came for a visit; as did Lorena and Kelly. Anthony loved the extra attention and having new sets of arms to enjoy!!

It was fun introducing him to his first little friend, and amazing to see the two boys next to each other -- what a difference just a few months makes!

What a nice family picture! These photos and commentary tide us grandmas over til we can be there in person. You have wonderful friends, Kelly and Brandon! And little Harper is just as cute as can be too, maybe he whispered in Anthony's ear what he's learned so far in life. Do you think Anthony's hair has a tinge of red to it? Love, Mom

Well, you snuck these in between me checking up on you and I got behind here.(Couple of busy days) Anthony is growing already. I like his little patriotic shirt. The days do go fast don't they? And Brandon's Boo-Boo with the crock pot. Your whole life has changed. Can't expect everything to always be perfect. But I'll bet that was disappointing after expecting that mouth watering treat. Won't be the last crazy thing you will do , believe me. And Kelly, too, I am sure. Part of it all. Kelly, you're looking good. You don't even have any baby weight left. Hooray for you! (You look good too, Brandon) Love you all. Shirley P. S. Give Anthony an extra squeeze for me.
