Anthony's Weekend

Anthony had, for him, a very full weekend.

On Saturday he had his friend Lyla over for lunch, and watched with poorly-disguised envy as this adorable "older woman" skillfully crawled, pulled herself to the standing position and sat up all by herself.

Some day, Anthony, some day.

Today, Sunday, he enjoyed a long walk with mom and dad. As the rest of the country's weather starts to take a turn for the worse, Miami's is finally starting to become bearable, allowing us to get the little guy out a bit more. Although he used most of the walk to take his morning nap, when he was awake, Anthony seemed to enjoy the breeze.

And of course, Anthony also hung out with his mom to watch the Green Bay Packers -- who are rapidly ruining my chance to make fun of Brandon's haplesss St. Louis Rams -- fall to 2-3. Although Anthony compared the team to something one might find in his diaper, he just can't seem to get as worked up about the situation as he did when Brett Favre was quarterback.

Oh wait, that's me, not Anthony.

In between weekend fun, Anthony found time to try out some new noises and start thinking about the next skill he'll master.

Below, he proves he's already more advanced that his mother. In my several attempts to learn Spanish, one of the many, many, many things I've been unable to master is the trilled "r" sound. But I guess when one is born in Miami, one does what the Romans (or Cubans) do. Here, Anthony shows off his own trilled "r," no doubt laughing at mom's ineptitude the whole time.

Meanwhile, although I know the crawling days are still a long way off, I think Anthony is starting to consider the possibilities. While on his tummy, he's starting to get his little legs moving. And he shows frustration at not being able to go anywhere -- just like he got mad before he mastered rolling over. Again, I stress that I know the crawling thing is a long way off -- I'm not delusional or anything -- but I like to think that Anthony at least has the desire, if not the ability.

Well, you never know about the crawling. I had a couple that crawled at 4 mos. Yes, really. Also one that had teeth at 2 mos and then one I thought would never get teeth. Same with the walking. Had one that walked at 9 1/2 mos and one I thought would never walk. Kids all do different things at different paces and they surprise you that way. It's the same with talking. And potty training. I had easy and fairly early ones and one (I keep stressing one)I thought would never be trained. And it goes on. But Anthony seems to be one that will go forward pretty rapidly. He is a go getter, that is for sure. Nothing holding him back. I love these videos. They both have lots of "dialog" and as I have said before they make him seem more real to me. He is the sweetest little fella. I just want to grab him. Happy football watching. Love you all. Shirley

Anthony certainly is developing his languages skills and pumping up the volume! The videos of Anthony are so much fun to watch and to listen to.
I cannot wait to play with him again soon!
Keep the blogs coming. They help so much when there are many miles between Anthony and his Grandmas and Grandpas.
Kelly, I hope you will print these blogs and bind a "book" entitled "Anthony's Baby Years". The script is priceless!
Much love to all three of you!

Anthony, Grandma Dianne cannot trill her r's either, so you are a step ahead of me too. I can see you are so eager to get moving! You are growing so much every day, it won't be long before you are figuring out a way to scoot. Tomorrow is Thursday, and we are wondering if you are looking at the calendar and thinking, "It's my day to have mommy come and get me early!" Hope there are no more fevers and you can make it through the week and look forward to another fun weekend!
