That's the non-gravy version...does anyone else think gravy is totally overrated and unnecessary in the face of the awesomeness that is canned cranberry jelly? Also, notice how the green beans are basically being shoved off the plate by all the good stuff...
Anyway, as much as we wish we could have spent the day with family, we had a good time cooking, watching the Packers (although I wish it had been my Vikings...I'm a lifelong fan, you know) and prepping for "Black Friday." We were sure Anthony would wake us up in plenty of time for the door buster sales; of course, for once he "slept in" until 6:30.
The little guy has been a bit under the weather lately with a case of Foot and Mouth or Hoof and Mouth orHand, Foot and Mouth or whatever the common one is that babies, not cattle, get. I don't feel like googling it right now in respect of accuracy. While you can imagine how GREAT it is to miss two full days of work in an already shortened week (hello going in on Saturday!), in true Thanksgiving spirit, I was grateful for the extra time to spend with my little guy, who was in fairly good spirits despite his malady.
He especially liked the Indian (Native American?) hat he brought home from our non-politically correct daycare:

That is, until he started wearing it like a necktie. Then he wasn't so sure. Don't worry, buddy, your daddy makes that same face when he has to put on a tie.
Anyway, it was a fun Thanksgiving, which concluded with all of us looking something like this:Is there any other way a Thanksgiving should end?

Hi Anthony, Happy Thanksgiving!
I have had that hand/foot/mouth stuff, too! It sucks but it goes away quickly and I haven't gotten it in 10-11 months.
Also my daycare is just as politically incorrect as yours! We learned all about Indians and made an Indian hat and did an Indian dance. My daddy had to correct my grandma who called it a "Native American Hat!"
Dave's elbowing Char out of the way in the kitchen as we speak! Wish you guys were here to not make an announcement at the dinner table, but we'll see you soon enough for some Christmas ham.
I love it. You had a great Thanksgiving within your little family nucleus. The pictures are so cute and Anthony doesn't look like he is having a real hard time of it. I love the conclusion. That's how I still feel today, Anthony. After a day of shopping after a day of all the food. Hmm. I am running Ellen's statement through my mind here.
Love you all. Shirley
Lyla, Happy Thanksgiving! We need to get together soon...maybe the little ones can be un-PC and play cowboys and Indians with their new hats!
Shirley - it sounds like Ellen's getting me into trouble! :) NO, no announcement. The joke is, whenever there's a family gathering, Brandon's favorite joke is to stand up and say, "Kelly and I have an announcement to make." By now, he's done it so many times, everyone just ignores him. And if there were really an "announcement" each time he's done it, we'd be the next Duggar family!
Thanks for straightening that out for us, Kelly! Pretty funny! Anyway, sounds and looks like you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. And Anthony does seem proud of his feathers! I used to do that with the preschoolers too, along with making drums out of oatmeal boxes, lots of fun. Looks like Anthony also has learned just how good it feels to relax in his easy chair at day's end, like the rest of us!
So sorry about the hand foot and mouth. Mia had it pretty badly a month or so ago. I hope that Anthony wasn't too miserable! The food looks delicious!
Happy Turkey Day!
