Perhaps it's the, ahem, willfullness he inherits from his father; maybe it's that harmless touch of OCD most people seem to have; or maybe we're raising the next subject for A&E's Hoarders. But these days, Anthony sets his mind to some very specific things, and can not be deterred. For Easter, Anthony's loving and patient mother put together a thoughtful Easter basket, filled with egg-shaped sidewalk chalk and cute bunny ears and even a "Bunny Buck" dollar bill.
Anthony was pleased - if a little surprised - with the sudden appearance of a gift...
... and promptly got down to business of finding out exactly what he was receiving.
Within a matter of minutes, our little single-minded car fanatic had promptly confiscated those items he deemed to be of value - i.e. everything that depicted something with wheels - and stashed them safely on his Lightning McQueen chair.
The rest? I shouldn't have bothered. Every item that dared to bear the shape of an egg or bunny or something remotely Easter-y was soundly discarded and hauled back out to the kitchen. You know what, I think I'm just going to spend that Bunny Buck myself.Give him a hat and it's off...
...on...
...off...
...on...
...on...
...off...
...on...And the kid always wants to be carrying - no, clutching - a book. No big deal when he's heading off to school...might as well get in the teachers' good graces from a young age...

Especially when its...The Yellow Pages? Seriously, Anthony?
I kept wondering if people thought my kid was strange because he was hugging the phone book the whole time he was playing on the playground equipment.

Thanks for the cute pictures, Kelly! Hey, I never leave home without a book either. And you never know when you're gonna need those yellow pages. A lot of kids his age won't leave home without their pacifiers....books are much preferrable! It is funny that Anthony has really zeroed in on his car collection. He knows what he likes!
Now I know what to give him for Christmas - I've got all sorts of old phone books laying around! Ha ha, just kidding. ;-) Yeah, there are lots of worse habits to have than carrying around a book.
Love, Aunt Kerry
:-)
Never complain about him carrying around or reading a book. He makes me think of Julie when she was little like that. She had a book with her when she got up in the morning and you had to read it before anything else could happen. She loves to read still. That phone book looks a little bulky though. Especially at the play ground.LOL. Maybe he'll memorize all those numbers. He hasn't asked you to read it yet, has he? He will. Maybe you could buy him some car mechanics magazines and he can be studying up on taking care of his cars. You could keep him occupied for hours. Anthony is a cutie for sure. Give him a squeeze for me. Love you all. Shirley
