However, in light of recent events, I'm forced to wonder, could it be possible that THIS LITTLE ANGEL...
...is actually a BRAT?
Monday Brandon greets me with the news that when he dropped Anthony at daycare, Anthony promptly kicked little Lorelei.Wednesday, Anthony's teacher informs me Anthony wrestled a toy away from Jamieson, despite the fact that Jamieson is a month older and something like twice Anthony's size (seriously).
And there are the recent reports of hair-pulling (Aunt Kerry's) and juice-dumping (on Dad); plus incidents I have personally witnessed, like dish-throwing and attempts at kitty tail-pulling...
For now, I am telling myself the kick was merely reflexes in action, and the toy grab was simply innocent play. Same for the hair- and tail-pulling; and I'll attribute the juice-dumping to poor coordination and inexperience with the sippy cup. Because all in all, Anthony's sweet moments (like when he rolled over to me from across the room, looked up, grinned and put his arms up for a hug) still vastly outnumber his bratty ones.
But I'm watching you, Anthony!
(Who, me?)

ROTFL!! No....6 months is way too young to be classified as a brat. Just exercising his kicking muscles and Lorelei was nearby, just curious about Jamieson's toy, (you should not have limited Christmas gift-giving to one toy per gifter!), Aunt Kerry was happy to share her lovely hair with her nephew, the sippy cup is still an experiment, and dish throwing is a heck of a lot of fun! So there's the explanations. Oh, and Javier's tail is alluring, you know! Anyway, we'll cut him some slack at this point and re-evaluate much much later in Anthony's career as a little boy! He is so sweet, and grandma and grandpa are not at all biased!
I agree with Mommer - all of those things are just reflexes and curiosity. And I actually invited him to pull my hair, so that's not brattiness! In fact, my only complaint is that it took him so long to actually pull it, since I had been dangling it in his face for like 15 minutes! ;-)
Love, Aunt Kerry
:-)
Hmmm, pulling Javier's tail,, how cute!
Grandpa
Sounds like a typical 6 month almost 7 month old child to me. But, yes, this is when you will have to start letting him know it is not the right thing to do. Most kids try all those things and more. Just growing up and how do you find out anything without trying it at least once? And several times more til he gets the message that maybe that is not such a good thing to do. And sometimes it takes longer. (and longer) Depends. He'll learn. He is a sweetheart, I just know that. And also all kids think the reason cats have tails is so they can pull them. What else would they need one for. The cat will teach him about that too probably. Oh, you have such a normal child it isn't even funny. HO-HUM. LOL. He is an extraordinary child I think. Smart and full of fun and smiles and so, so handsome like his Dad. Yup. I remember his Dad very well at that age and he was faster than the average adult and could he get into things fast. And over and over again and again. And he liked to take things apart. I had a lamp table that had a decorative pull on it that was for a fake drawer. Well he really thought that should open something and everytime he came he had to keep trying to get it open. So determined. Well, finally one day when he came he got some results. The handle came off. Right in his hands. It never did get put back on and I still have that table to this day minus the fake drawer handle. And I never did call Brandon a Brat. Never. Oh, the fun begins! Love you all. Shirley
I was NEVER a brat, Shirley!
No, Brandon, and I didn't call you one either. Just a mischievous little boy and lots of curiosity and determination. Aren't you still that? Only not so little any more, of course. Notice I didn't eliminate the mischievous part of that statement. LOL. Love you all. Shirley
I quote a parent of a college Freshman at Emory on move-in day, speaking to an R.A., "I didn't raise my child to share!"
Just as long as you are there to articulate Anthony's needs well into his adulthood, and you don't mind being quoted by strangers for decades, who cares if he's a brat or not?
Love,
Amanda
